Samuel Partyka is a pianist and piano teacher who lives and works in the Charleston, SC area. He's been teaching piano in his private studio since 2018, and has worked as a recitalist, church musician, accompanist, and composer.


Sam began the study of piano at the age of 6 and of trumpet at the age of 9. At 12 years old he performed The Carnival of Venice by Jean-Baptiste Arban in front of more than 1000 people at the fine arts competition of the Connecticut Association of Christian Schools. He went on to win the first and third prizes for brass solo at the national fine arts competition of the American Association of Christian Schools. Sam renewed his focus on piano at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, where he studied piano with Sarah Grunstein and received a BA in Music and Economics in 2010, and was the recipient of the Smith Scholarship for Music. He coached with Sergey Schepkin in Boston, MA from 2010 to 2012.


Sam worked for several years as a database and web developer for Wayfair, Cambridge Select, and athenahealth, while practicing and teaching in the evenings and on weekends. Since 2018, he's been a full-time pianist and piano teacher. From 2017 until 2020, he worked as the Music Director for the Community United Methodist Church of Allston-Brighton. From 2020 until 2023, he worked as the Music Director at the Community Congregational Church of Greenland, NH, and as the accompanist for the Portsmouth Pro Musica. In 2023 he relocated to the Charleston, SC area. In addition to piano technique and literature, his musical interests include composition in classical styles, literature suitable for beginning pianists, chamber music, and accompaniment.
